Explaining Facebook to an Old Lady
I was in a position to explain what’s facebook is to an old lady who knows nothing about the internet! How would you do this?! What would first come to your mind?!
Well, I know she knows the newspaper, so I started from there!
Facebook is a newspaper or a magazine, just like any newspaper you read everyday. However, there are some differences:
- It is an online newspaper, I mean you read it on a computer (or mobile) instead of reading it on the physical paper.
- This newspaper only covers your family and friends news. So page 2 could be about your son, page 3 could be about your sister, page 4 could be about that someone you worked with few years ago, etc….
- And they write their news by themselves on those pages.
- You have a page as well in this newspaper, and you decide what to write on it, and decide who can see it as well.
- On page 1, you can see a summary about all other pages in your newspaper.
That was the beginning, and then we had a long nice discussion about social media!! I really enjoyed it.
