At The Intersection Of VC & Data

I am a technical founder turned VC, with background in computer engineering, data science (AI and ML), and product management.

I’m the author of three books, and one white paper on venture capital:

  • Book: “VC Evolve: Navigating The Art, Science, And Future Of Venture Capital, In An Ever-Evolving Startup Frontier”

  • Book: “Contrarian Cycles: Uncovering The Anti-Consensus Advantage In Venture Capital”

  • Book: “Unlocking Liquidity: How Direct Secondaries Are Reshaping The VC Model”

  • White Paper: “The Great VC Evolution: Multi-Asset, Multi-Stage, Multi-Entry, Multi-Region”

As a VC, I’m passionate about FinTech, Telecom, Media, ML, AI, & Web3. Over the past 15 years, I have helped set up and operate three VC firms (KingsCrowd Capital, Arzan VC, & Leap VC). For which I created new new AI/ML powered tools for deal sourcing, startup evaluation, and exit prediction.

I utilized a new AI model I customized to summarize startup pitch decks, and prepare investment memos, due diligence checklist, and final DD reports. I utilized a new data model I designed to collect 300+ data points on every company we consider, and then used ML to score companies based on price, market, team, differentiation, and performance/traction, and to predict exit timelines, valuations, and fund returns.

I’ve also created internal products to automate the collection of portfolio companies’ performance data, and encourage knowledge sharing among portfolio companies’ founders and teams.

I come with technical, entrepreneurial, and active VC investing experience, and I managed small and large teams of both business and engineering talents.

I am an Engineer with an MBA, and I’m a Kauffman Fellow since 2012.

As a founder myself, I started e-Traindex, a marketplace for training courses in 2006 (failed), dCap, a robo-advisor for crypto trading in 2019 (failed), and now experimenting on the side with nmbr, a neo-telecom!
