Arab Entrepreneurs In Silicon Valley
Arab Entrepreneurs In Silicon Valley
It’s so inspiring to see great entrepreneurs keep pursuing success no matter what! Here they are, in the most competitive tech hub in the whole world, few Arab entrepreneurs succeeding in Silicon Valley!
Although Arab investors didn’t believe in their dreams, they kept going, and their entrepreneurial sense led them eventually to the valley, where they have finally found crazy enough investors to believe in them.
They have raised seeds rounds, started their companies, proved their concepts, created considerable traction, and moved forward. It was not that easy though, and it will not be easy to raise the next rounds and to prove the business models as well. But they just keep going no matter what.
I know a lot of them, but I was surprised that they don’t know each other. So I sent an email to organize a get together over a Ramadan Iftar and get them all connected. It was one of the greatest Iftars I’ve ever had. I asked everyone to tell us his/her story, the good and the bad, and how they all got here, so that we get closer to each other.
Of course as an Arab, I was too late to the meeting, and I caused a delay to the whole thing, for which I apologize. We ended up having Iftar 30 minutes after sunset. But it was so much fun. We kept laughing almost all the time.
This group was only from Jordan, Palestine and Lebanon, but I am sure there are more from all other Arab countries. I hope they keep doing this and keep expanding the network. This will be so helpful for all new comers and for everyone to collaborate and share knowledge.
I will always remember this entrepreneurial Iftar in Sunnyvale, California.
I miss you all, good luck and keep going :-)
